The government has unveiled plans to procure a £64m, multi-supplier framework agreement for costs lawyer services that will be made available to government departments and the wider public sector.

The procurement is being run by the Minister for the Cabinet Office acting through the Crown Commercial Service, which is to hold market engagement sessions during December.

A prior information notice said that suppliers on this framework would be expected to provide an extensive range of mandatory law cost specialisms.

The services will include:

costs consultancy and negotiation
cost estimates and statement of costs
advocacy and/or attending hearings
instructing counsel
providing advice
preparing costs budgets, bills of costs, points of dispute, replies and court forms.

The services will be provided to wider public sector customers and central government departments and their arm’s length bodies and agencies.

The contract notice is expected to be published on 8 January 2019.
