Law firm teams up with CommercialGov to deliver governance for commercial activity masterclass for LGA
Sharpe Pritchard is working with CommercialGov to provide a commercial governance masterclass for the Local Government Association.
- Details
The masterclass will be given by Rob Hann, Head of Local Government at Sharpe Pritchard, and Peter Collins, a partner at the firm and expert in corporate governance law and practice, alongside CommercialGov.
It is part of a wider masterclass training programme designed to support councils as they refocus commercial activity impacted by COVID-19 and investment guidance changes from CIPFA and central government.
The masterclass delivered by Hann and Collins will focus on the increasing use of separate but local authority-controlled trading companies and explore governance within the context of establishing corporate vehicles for a variety of trading purposes.
The Governance for commercial activity masterclass will run via Zoom on 10 February and 12 March.
Hann, who is also the author of several local government law books including Guides to charging and trading and companies and partnerships, said: “I am delighted to be working with the LGA and Commercialgov to promote the work of local authorities in this sometimes-complex area and to help with the roll out best practice across the local authority environment on the subject of governance in the commercial context.”
