An operations officer as well as a number of lawyers in the Government Legal Department have been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2021.

Names as Companions of the Order of the Bath (CB) are Gareth Evans, Deputy Director, Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Legal Team, and Wendy Hardaker, Director of the Commercial Law Group. Both are recognised “for services to the Law”.

Three GLD lawyers have been given a CBE. They are Michael Des Tombe, Deputy Director (“for public service”), Samantha Ede, Deputy Director, Home Office Legal Advisers (“for services to the Law”) and Lee John-Charles, Deputy Legal Director, Litigation (“for services to the Law”).

Ashok Taylor, Operations Officer at the GLD, has been given an MBE “for services to Government and especially during Covid-19”.
