National park authority names two county councils to provide legal services
The South Downs National Park Authority has appointed two neighbouring authorities to a contract to provide legal services and monitoring officer services.

The contract started on 26 June 2022 and runs until 26 June 2025.
The services were offered for tender in two lots, namely for:
- The provison of quality legal services and advice with particular expertise in planning and local government legislation and issues.
- The Monitoring Officer role. It will be the responsibility of the Monitoring Officer to appoint a deputy, who will discharge the duties and responsibilities of the Monitoring Officer when the Monitoring Officer is absent.
Lot 1 was awarded to Hampshire Legal Services while Lot 2 was awarded to West Sussex County Council.
