Amardeep Gill has been named as Trowers & Hamlins’ new National Head of Public Sector, taking over from Scott Dorling who was in the post for five years.

Gill has extensive experience in advising government and public bodies on business critical or transformation projects, the firm said.

In recent years, he has been involved in advising on landmark projects such as the delivery of the Commonwealth Games 2022 and Transport for West Midlands' 5G pathfinder connectivity project.

He has also contributed to a number of initiatives designed to improve the delivery of public services and inputted into the sector's policy agenda, including working alongside The Centre for the New Midlands on the development of future devolution plans across the UK.

Trowers said Dorling had lead the Public Sector team through a period of sustained growth in each of the firm's centres of excellence in the Midlands, the North West, the South West and in London.

“Scott will continue to play an integral role across the team and its nationwide expansion plans and will focus particularly on the firm's regeneration and public sector housing delivery objectives,” it will add.

Amardeep Gill said: "It is a great honour to be taking on the role as National Head of the Public Sector team at Trowers & Hamlins. I would like to thank Scott for all the work he has done in helping enhance Trowers' reputation as one of the leading public sector law firms in the country.

"We are committed to providing public sector organisations with market leading legal advice and our recent growth is a testament to our vision of providing this as we continue to advise on some of the most innovative projects across the public sector. I look forward to growing the practice further with a number of exciting projects already secured and further planned expansion of the team across all of our UK offices."

Scott Dorling said: "It has been a privilege to Head up the fantastic Public Sector team at Trowers & Hamlins. There aren't many better jobs. The time is now right, after five years at the helm, to hand over to Amardeep Gill whose passion for the role (and the role of the Public Sector generally) will drive our commitment to growth and sustained excellence."
