The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman, Michael King, is to step down from the role after 18 years at the organisation.

King, who will leave on 31 March 2023, said: "I leave at a time when the Ombudsman's role has never felt more relevant to the sectors in which we work and at a point when we are making more recommendations each year to improve public services than at any time in our near fifty-year history.
"I am therefore confident that the work of the office will continue to go from strength to strength in future."
He took over as the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman in January 2016, after 12 years as deputy LGO.
