London Borough of Tower Hamlets Vacancies


Four judges have been appointed to the High Court with effect from early October, with three assigned to the King’s Bench Division and one to the Chancery Division.

The three judges assigned to the King’s Bench Division are:

  • Margaret Obi, who will bring over 27 years of experience as a solicitor, and seven years of judicial experience as a Deputy High Court Judge, a Deputy Upper Tribunal Judge, and a Chair of the Competition Appeals Tribunal
  • Heather Norton, who will bring more than 24 years of experience as a barrister, and 18 years of judicial experience as a Recorder and Circuit Judge
  • Simon Birt KC, who will bring over 27 years of experience as a barrister, and four years of judicial experience as a Deputy High Court Judge

Mark Cawson KC has meanwhile been appointed to the Chancery Division. He brings more than 38 years of experience as a barrister, and 25 years of judicial experience as a Recorder, Deputy High Court Judge and Specialist Circuit Judge.

The appointments fill vacancies in the High Court following elevations to the Court of Appeal and confirmed retirements.

They take effect from early October.
