Cornerstone Barristers names new joint heads of planning and environment team

The pair are taking over from Michael Bedford KC.

The set said that under his leadership, its planning team had seen "three new silks in as many years, appearances in many high-profile cases and inquiries, multiple appointments to Government panels, and repeated success in industry awards".

It added that Josef Cannon KC and Robert Williams are "committed to building on the team's outstanding reputation" in planning, environment and infrastructure.

Michael Bedford KC plans to remain an active part of the team, the set added.

Josef Cannon KC's practice focuses on town and country planning, licensing and public law work. He was called to the bar in 2002 and appointed King's Counsel in 2024.

Robert Williams is a public law specialist with particular expertise in planning and environmental law. He was called to the bar in 2008.

In a joint statement, Cannon and Williams said: "It's a huge honour to follow in Michael's footsteps, and take over the leadership of the Planning and Environment Team. The team has great strength and depth, and we look forward to championing its quality with clients old and new."
