Government Legal Department Vacancies

The London Borough of Barnet is looking to hire a single legal services provider to advise on its Brent Cross Cricklewood Project.

According to the Invitation to Tender, the contract is estimated to be worth anywhere between £175,000 and £5m.

The chosen firm will advise on:

  • Property;
  • Procurement (including joint ventures and other delivery mechanisms);
  • Planning (including section 106 agreements);
  • Highways (including section 278 agreements);
  • Financial and commercial;
  • Tax (if required); and
  • Affordable housing.

Plans for the Brent Cross Cricklewood Project, which involves the creation of a new town centre, were approved by Barnet Council and the Mayor of London in 2010. It is said to be the “biggest investment in the area’s history”, creating up to 27,000 full-time jobs and 7,500 homes.

On 30 January 2014 the local authority’s planning and environment committee approved three proposed amendments to the masterplan for the project.
