The project, which spans 10 to 15 years, is expected to play a key part in the council's 2021-2037 Local Plan strategy by acting as a catalyst for transformative development in the area, whilst developing new jobs and opportunities for the local community.
Trowers said it has been working closely with the council on this matter for several years and advised on all aspects of the project including assurances on development, construction, procurement, planning, governance, and real estate.
The Trowers team involved in the project was Rita Bange, Chris Plumley, Matthew Holbrook, Harriet Burford, Amanda Stubbs, Scarlett Banfield, Andy Waite, Cirklen Yu, Rebecca Rees, Stuart Brown, Rory Stracey, and Tim Brown.
Rita Bange, Senior Associate in Real Estate, said: “We are proud to have supported the council on this significant project. The Hind Street Urban Village represents a landmark regeneration initiative that will transform a long-neglected brownfield site into a thriving, low-carbon community, bringing forward sustainable housing, quality green spaces, and vital community infrastructure for future generations.
“It is an honour to be at the forefront of the project, going beyond legal support to provide strategic commercial advice and comprehensive legal project management for the client."
Matthew Neal, Lead Principal Lawyer for Property and Planning at Wirral Council, said: “Trowers were appointed back in 2021 with a view to unlocking this complex site. Working with the wider project team, they have navigated a way forward through various issues and negotiated a development agreement that will provide the overarching framework for the Hind Street scheme, which is a cornerstone of the council’s regeneration objectives for Birkenhead and Wirral.”
